PURPLE POPCORN
In late 2006, Blackout Movement producers Danny “Styles” Schofield and Winston “Blackout” Thomas created an all-Black Rock Band, Purple Popcorn, which hurled the BM produced rap single “This Is Why I’m Hot” into commercial success with its rocked out remix. Within months, the group had amassed four television appearances, two commercial placements, and a number-one selling ringtone. Purple Popcorn appealed to a diverse, and unexpected fan base, but the duo weren’t satisfied with the heavy-hitting sound being their only creative outlet. They got back in the studio with a new group of faces, a fresh vocalist, and a renewed desire to make relatable music that fans could feel and the industry could undeniably respect.
